# Chisels & Gouges

- A set of 6 chisels, in a black plastic box. Includes a simple sharpening jig for chisels and plane irons. Usually used with a flat faced wooden mallet.
- A set of 5 gouges and a v-tool, in a wooden box. Usually used with rounded mallet - we have a heavy brass-headed mallet and a small wooden mallet.

These tools are used in similar ways, with the stock material on the bench or in a vice. You should either hold the handle and blade in both hands or hold the handle and hit it with a mallet. **Never to be used with the stock material in one hand and the chisel in the other hand**!

These blades should only be sharpened using diamond stones or by stropping. No power grinding!
